mediation sessionWhether you want to become a mediator or you are just interested to learn more about mediation, this blog is for you.

Here you’ll find all the information you need — basic and advanced mediation training, books, videos, DVDs, articles, useful links.

(1) If You Want to Become a Mediator

Let me suggest the following plan.

Take a basic mediation course. And then make sure to practice what you learned. An excellent way to get experience is joining your local community mediation center as volunteer mediator. To find out which community mediation centers are located in your state, read on.

Pretty soon you’ll discover that mediators, like doctors, specialize in specific fields. And therefore you may need additional training in the field you are interested in – e.g. divorce, commercial or workplace mediation.

Along the way, check if there are any requirements for practicing mediation in your state. And you may also want to read a couple of books on how to market your services and build a successful mediation practice (look under Books | Mediation Practice).

(2) If You Are Just Interested to Learn More About Mediation

Read about the mediation process (look under Books | Mediation Skills). And consider taking a basic mediation training online, so you can learn first-hand the conflict resolution skills and techniques needed to help people reach an agreement.

How to Search For The Mediation Course You Need

You have three options.

(a) If you are willing to take a mediation course no matter where it is held, search under Categories. If, for example, you click Advanced Mediation Training, you’ll find all advanced mediation courses held across the United States.

(b) If you are interested only in mediation courses held in your state, search under “Mediation Training Etc. in Your State”. In this case, in addition to the mediation courses held in your state, you’ll also find links to community mediation centers or associations located in your state, and articles related to mediation in your state.

(c) You can use the Search textbox any way you like. For example, if you type “california october 2009”, you’ll get a list of all mediation courses held in California in October 2009.

I hope you’ll find my blog useful. And if you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.
